The launch site of The Lawyer's Break: the seat you save, the partner form, and the emails we send about the launch. The product, when it opens, will have its own notice. Short, because there is not much.
When you save a seat. Your email address; your name if you give it; the role you choose (attorney, in-house, compliance, academic, student, curious); the areas of law you tick; what you wrote in "what makes you curious" if you chose that role; the version of the consent you gave and when; and your Legal Eagle number. We use them to send you the launch invitation, to give you your number, and to decide which areas of law to open first. Legal basis: your consent, which you give when you save the seat and can withdraw at any time.
When you write through "Partner with us". Your name, work email, organisation, what you are interested in, your message and, if given, a website. We use them to reply to you. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering a message you sent us.
When you open the site. Our hosting and database providers process your IP address, browser and device information and request times to deliver and protect the site. We keep one aggregate number: how many seats have been saved. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure, working site.
We do not profile you, we do not sell or share your data for marketing, and we do not use analytics or advertising tools.
Only the ones the site needs to work. There is no tracking and no cookie banner, because nothing on the site asks for your consent to a cookie. The Cookies page lists what is set.
One confirmation when you save a seat, and the launch invitation when the product opens. No newsletter, no marketing. Emails are sent through an email delivery provider acting on our instructions.
Providers that process data for us under contracts that bind them to our instructions: a database and functions provider with data stored in the European Union, a hosting and content delivery provider, and an email delivery provider. Where a provider processes data outside the European Economic Area, the transfer is covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision; write to us for a copy of the safeguard that applies. Nobody else, unless the law requires it.
Seat data until the product opens and your seat becomes an account, or until you give up your seat, or twelve months after the launch invitation is sent, whichever comes first. Partner messages for twelve months after our last reply. Technical logs for the shortest period our providers need, and no longer than twelve months.
Where the GDPR applies, you can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, to object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and for a copy of the data you gave us in a usable format. You can withdraw your consent at any time for the future, which gives up your seat. Write to support@thelawyersbreak.com; we answer within one month. You can also complain to the data protection authority of the country where you live or work.
This notice is updated when the site changes what it does with your data; the version and date are at the top. For any request, write to support@thelawyersbreak.com.
